Three things thrusday

Since I remember that today is actually Thursday, and, it has been a busy week I might as well use this format today.

This post brought to you by the letter S;

  1. School board meeting!  It is one of my new hobbies to go to local meetings.  I’ve met a good bunch of people and if you are going to be surrounded by politics, they might as well be meaningful.
  2. Spin class!  Last week and this week Lars and I went together.  The class is at a time we can both do and with the winter closing in we need an activity.  I put my step counter on my ankle and got pretty good results, not perfect count, but I’m over 8k after the class when I went in at 4ish so a solid 4k steps.
  3. Social Media!  First ‘normal’ week with all my clients and things are going pretty well.  I still can’t believe that I’m actually getting paid to post on facebook and Instagram… it isn’t exactly easy because I still need to pull together all the things etc, but, I really do enjoy it.  I like putting on all the different company hats and playing the game from their perspective.

There is more going on of course.  We celebrated our favorite babysitters birthday today, she is now old enough to leave home alone in charge of kids (before she was a mothers helper with another adult around every time).  We are also looking at Thanksgiving plans and I’m figuring out the month of November in general.  Need to save something for tomorrow and Walking Dead is waiting for me just after bed time is achieved.

share my world week 16

Sharing Sunday…  Questions courtesy of Cee, here is her post and there are links to many others from there.

If you had to have your vision corrected would you rather: glasses or contacts?  Or what do you use if you need to have your vision corrected?  Laser correction!  I know everyone can’t but I was able to and it was the best money I have ever spent.  Every day I’m happy to see.  Every day when I open my eyes at 4am or 2 or 7 or 9 I’m glad that I can see the clock and whatever face is inches from mine.  I can’t imagine diapers or any of the late night hazmat missions without being able to see.  Before the date with the laser I wore contacts and before that glasses.  I’ve needed vision correction since 10 so I’m holding my breath (not really, I think I know the answer) on my 3 kids who see two parents with no glasses but little do they know what nearsighted genes lurk within them.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be? stock-photo-road-sign-says-watch-for-animals-next-miles-in-yellow-and-black-on-blue-sky-background-11184133

I am the watch for animals sign.  I am on the lookout all the time for all the things that don’t belong because it is my talent in life to remember where you put your keys/shoes/book/homework.  I also love seeing new things, I’m dragging my family to all sorts of things so I can see it and a certain friend still sends me Llama pictures because of the hour side trip I made everyone go on to see a llama farm (lamalot by the way, worth the trip if you are near Breezewood Pa)

Was school easy or difficult for you? How so? Both.  Elementary was hard because it was a small class (11kids) so if you didn’t click you didn’t.  However it was an awesome education and I almost didn’t learn a new thing for 2 years once I moved to public middle school so that bit of school was pretty easy.  High school was a mix, I took hard classes and was into overdoing things with work and the play and sports teams but I’m really glad I did it.  College I actually considered easy because I could just take the classes I wanted to take so they were fun.  I fit into the school model, I learn by seeing or hearing or discussing or reading so I was pretty good at getting the info they wanted and I like writing and discussing (obvious by my blog here for 10+years) so school was intended for good girls who sit still in seats and listen like me.

Would you rather take a 1 or 2 week vaction with an organized tour or take a cruise of your choice? At this exact moment?  Cruise, because of the kids.  I’ve been on long tours and they are fun but lots of moving moving moving and that won’t work for little kids.  I hear cruises are very fun for a family.  Most often I go with my own brand of organization with a general list of places I would like to see and a ‘wing it’ approach to what we do when dependent on weather and kids and moods etc.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  From the last week I’m grateful for the weather.  Spring is here so there is rain but there are also warm days and playing outside and dreams of gardens.  I’m looking forward to more of the same next week.  I’m in a little lull between parties and enjoying the relative calm.

Share your world week 15

I find myself awake way too early after way too busy a day yesterday.  When I could not fall asleep I decided to just get up and ‘lean in’ as they say.  Funny thing about 4am, nobody else is up so I can do anything!  I’m sifting through pictures of the party from yesterday (that also ate my Friday) so it’s time for one of my new fav memes; Share your world.

This weeks questions are fun – feel free to answer them too and link up to the mothership-site to see what other people have to say.

Name one thing not many people know about you. *and I’m willing to tell the internet* My hair has become darker and darker over time.  People think I dye it and I really don’t.  I’ve also developed a wave in my hair (or maybe it’s a permanent ponytail mark)

If a distant uncle dies and you were always his favorite and leaves you $50,000 (any currency) in his will, what would you do? First instinct is to downpayment an investment property.  I would probably spend 6 months trying to figure out the best use for it looking at future money value and interest rates etc.  But the entire time I would have this happy thing to think about and that has 50k of value too.

Where do you hide junk when people come over? Funny question because we just had a party!  Junk migrates to my room or the guest room or garage depending on the party and who else is here.  One of my problems with a ‘tidy’ house is that we actually don’t have any spare place to hide things.  At one point, before kids, we had the entire lowest level to put odds and ends.  As each child was born and we had to cede space to the encamped forces, our free space disappeared.

Complete this sentence:  I want to learn more about … everything

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?  Grateful for the best weather we have had in 2016.  I’m looking forward to a treat day with Niamh that will hopefully be next week.

three things thrusday

nap – she is sleeping, I should be

health – minor cold turns into major breathing event….

Weather – awesome, this is why I live here – sunny, 70, light breeze

House – getting party ready so a combo of clean and crafting piles

This week is full steam toward party, plus, keep up with normal life and fill in the gaps from our week last week.  On top of it all Fiona had a breathing event…  All night…  I’m getting better at this at least so I guess my #1 thing is;

  1. 2 very healthy kids and one kid who’s health I can handle.  There are so many parents with such worse conditions that I consider this breathing thing not so bad.  She just gets a sniffle and it turns into a major wheeze.  We also were not on top of her allergy medicines and the world decided to bloom.  So we missed a playdate, that’s fine, sitting quietly looking at books is nice too.
  2. Pool noodle horses!  These are really super easy and pretty inexpensive.  I got the noodles at the dollar store, I got eyeballs, clothes line, and pipe cleaner (bridle) at walmart for under $8 total.  The manes are scrap fleece and I got way more than I needed.  I already had a glue gun and a sharpie and clear packing tape so over all an inexpensive craft.  I finished all 15 in about an hour and a half.  They are the ‘goodie bag’ for the royal theme party this weekend.  Kids will have some horse races, maybe some art, a bit of ‘fight the knight’, and we will see what else.IMG_8491
  3. Brushing up my balloon twisting skills and making sure I can make plenty of swords for the party.  This was also my wordless Wed pic but I’m still happy about it

I thought I was done since so much of my week is focused on party, cleaning, and kid care that I totally forgot about this picture until I was uploading from my phone.  This is Zoe at the hotel and she is reading the only book she could find…  They tested my limits that night but this picture is just cute enough it will be all I remember.
