3 Quotes – day 3

3 and done, just like my kids.  See my Monday post for more background, and, here is my final installment (although I might make a quote a weekly thing, sooo many good ones out there)

Rules; Thank the person who challenged you, post a quote, tag 3 others, for 3 days in a row.

Thank you, Fancy Paper – you are right, these are fun to post

Quote;

I didn’t come this far to only go this far

this isn’t me, but I guess it could be.  I hope she finished the race!

I found this quote last year and have found dozens of uses for it over time but today I tried to find if it had an original author.  I’m going to say the origin is unclear but it has been said by plenty of big names including Tom Brady (a pro football star) and Mick Kremlen (fitness guru) but I can’t imagine that they were the originals.  Either way, it is a great ‘stick with it’ phrase.

The funny thing about quotes as I have noticed over time is that sometimes the opposite is equally true.  The one I often use is “don’t throw good money after bad” meaning that just because you invested so far if it is not worth doing; just stop.  Also, a good one, and a favorite of my mom “the first rule of getting out of a hole is to stop digging” . It depends on the situation whether you need to just finish the thing, or, recognize that it is time to stop.  Personally, I tend to hold onto certain things like friends and hobbies for ages, I place real value in the persistence of a long-term relationship, or, experience gained over a long-term hobby.  One can come and go but never quits.  This is probably why I’m still acquainted with friends from elementary school, and, I’m still blogging way way after the peek of popularity.

Tagging – Please please, if you are reading this and you want to do it, consider yourself tagged.  I know the ‘left out’ feeling of not being picked and seriously, I’m giving thought to my picks but also consider my brain addled by lack of sleep and focus in 55 other directions at all times.  If you do it, put a link in the comments and I will be overjoyed to read your quotes.  Seriously, I actually subscribe to a quote a day blog, I like them.

Miss Zoot – This is one of the first blogs I started reading ever, we are often on the same page about what is going on in our lives and I always enjoy reading her.  I tag her now not with any real hope she will do this because she tends not to, but, because I recommend reading her thoughts.

Unbound Roots – In contrast, this is a blog I just started reading because it was tagged in a Fancy Paper post and found that she is from 2 towns away.  Her style is fun and well written and she even edits her work (unlike me.  I edit for work, here I write fast and between projects)

Amanda’s Plate – a cooking blog I found while researching how to make a Muslim girl my daughter is friends with comfortable in our home a year ago.  While Amanda is Muslim, she mostly just talks about great looking food.  Again, finding another person who is more the same than different is one of the great things about the internet.

This concludes my 3 quote posts for this challenge.  I look forward to reading other people entries if they feel so inclined.  I also am looking forward to getting my life back and with that, more time for things I enjoy like blogging.

3 quotes; Day 2

2 in a row! Go me!  See my post yesterday for the full intro, here is the mini version and my second entry of three.

Rules; Thank the person who challenged you, post a quote, tag 3 others, for 3 days in a row.

Thank you, Fancy Paper – and a double thanks for introducing a new active blog group that isn’t full of people just doing ‘selling stuff’ posts.  A few of those, no big deal, however 100% polish corporate blog is not all that fun to read.

Quote;

Love is patient, love is kind

I’m not super religious but this quote from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (RC Bible) and virtually every wedding I’ve been to is less about a religion and more about the nature of love.  Like how kleenex is technically a brand but we all use it in reference to disposable nose blowing receptacles.  Love is a big concept, it covers everything from a treat to the person you spend your life with to the children you produce to the best pair of boots ever.  We use the word liberally in my world.

However… Love is also hard and involves choices.  Things happen with kids and spouses and houses and projects when you need to take a breath and remember that love is patient, and, love is kind.

Tagging 3 people who I hope join in;

Talking to myself – this is a person I know in real life and hopefully, this tag inspires him to write a word or 5.

Knotty Heart – another real-life friend who is blogging their brewing adventures, and, their cats.

Shanna Hatfield – an author I started following because she is just fun to read, and, someday I wish I could write something that would be published.

This is a nice departure from house house house house…. Thanks again Fancy 🙂

3 quotes; #1

In my ‘work life’ of social media I end up seeing and creating sooooo many quotes and memes that this is a semi-hard challenge.  The other hard part is picking 3×3 bloggers to tag so I took some time to think and I’m ready for the challenge.

Rules; Thank the person who challenged you, post a quote, tag 3 others, for 3 days in a row.

Thanks to my blog friend in Ireland who tagged me.  Fancy Paper posts are always fun and a glimpse into mom (or mum) life in a different country.  Its pretty much the same with some key differences and that is the thing I love about the blog world – genuine looks into the story of the lives of real people.

Quote; It is Always Darkest before the Dawnpexels-photo-927017.jpeg

Chosen half because it is in a song stuck in my head, half because I’m in a semi-constant state of anxiety about one house or another.  I trust a dawn will come.  It always has in the past.

Tagging; This is the hard part, I’ve had some poor luck with this part of a challenge before.  I am picking a trio that I read all the time and I hope will accept.

  1. Webner House – a Dad in Ohio with some cool thoughts on things.
  2. With Love Kate – a fellow Kate I found when we were both pregnant with #3 and I love her journey and decorating style and general can-do attitude.
  3. Home sweet Abbott – a new blogger who just got married and is building a house with a ‘due date’ about the same as ours.  Her building posts are fun to line up with mine because just like parenting and pregnancy and work etc – we are mostly the same but just a key difference or 3.

I hope to get 3 in 3 days here.  I at least have more downtime with the house in ready to sell mode all I need to do is maintain and be ready to leave at a moments notice.  Good thing I have a laptop and a phone and a nice car to sit in.  Cross fingers for the showing this afternoon, I have a feeling this might be the right one.

For my Pennsic Friends

This is a departure from my normal day to day posts to bring you a printable form if you want to play my Pennsic Catch Them All game.

Here is the form;Pennsiccatchthemall (now with flying weapons supplemental!)

Greetings Known World going to Pennsic! If you were ‘going to catch them all’ at Pennsic what would you catch? We have the most exotic creatures all around us, we just have to look. This year I (Duchess Mary from Northshied) am sponsoring a quest for young and old to ‘catch’ SCA style.

The goal is simple – seek and find people from every stage of progression from every kingdom. I have a form to help you keep track and if you bring that form back to the Games Tent by 8/11 whoever caught the most gets a prize.

Truly, the real prize will be the people you meet and the things you learn.

And since we are a digital society if you feel inclined, and, it is not offensive to your ‘catch’ post pictures with ‪#‎Pennsiccatchthemall‬

I will have some on site but if you want to come prepared please print at home.  Mine are double sided, yours don’t have to be.  Order isn’t important except the last page is intended to be the cover.

See you at pennsic!
