Finish the story Monday

It has been a long time since doing one of these Monday Flash Fictions but no time like now to take it up again.

The idea is to write a 150 word story based on a given picture and a first line – this weeks line is

From her small balcony, the witch watched the world go by.”

From her small balcony, the witch watched the world go by.

It was just the second day that she knew she was a witch, none of her sisters had seen anything in the glass on their 13 birthday, but she did.  Witch.  What to do with this?  In a way it was just a page heading like “woman”, “white”, “southern”; how she chose to fill in the details with her life choices was her own.  The possibilities….  curse the mean girls?   Love potions?  Ignore it? Grandma said she had a week to think about what the word witch meant to her and then they would start to learn.

Sitting on this little balcony alone is a treat in itself.  Usually there were sisters, brothers, cousins, friends, even pets around all the time but being the first witch in 50 years has the ability to clear a room.  What does the world want?  Watching is a good place to start.

It is good to be a first in a long time and then to watch and think.

A wonderful take on the picture. In a way, it reminded me of a nicer version of Carrie.

Thats a good take on the Witch prompt. And especially, the reason being lonely on the balcony.

That she’s starting her time as a witch by observing the world is a very positive sign! Hopefully she’ll use her powers to do some good. 🙂 A very enjoyable story.
