“Monday” finish the story

Yesterday we had off school so today feels rather Monday like with a mash of Tuesday thrown in and a sprinkle of holiday cheer.  I feel off my game still so I think jumping back into the challange posts and reading the blogs I’ve missed will get me back on track!

Monday flash fiction challenge is a 150 word story that we get a picture and a sentence to start~

“A body suddenly crashed through a plate glass window at the Brigadier’s house.” The man hops up, looks at the couple watching TV and calmly says “Do you have a cup of sugar?”.   He looks at them, unabashed, and says “sugar?” but with more emphasis.  “No?” “OK” and then walks out the way he came in.

On the floor is a small box, so Jim picks it up.  “Looks like uncut diamonds” Jim says to Clare, “should we follow him?”  “sure” Clare replies, “just let me get a cup of sugar”

They walk into the night with the box and a baggie of sugar, giddy with excitement and walk up the road toward the big house they have been wondering about for months.  A man with a gun greets them at the entrance, Jim flashes a smile and says “I need to see a man about a horse” and pats the bag of sugar peeking out of his jacket.  Tiny grunts and they walk past into the posh house.

What a strange little exchange. I’m not sure they’ve made the right decision to follow the man up to the big house! An interesting take on the prompt. 🙂
