Nope, this isn’t going to be a picture of me, it is of Niamh, by Niamh. Last week she and Zoe wanted to do pictures and they hauled out my tripod and remote clicker and then they set up what they wanted in the background (note the leopard print drape, that is all them). All I did was put the camera on the tripod and set it up for the remote. They must be starving for the good camera because as I uploaded these I realized 99% of my recent pictures are from the iPhone but you know, the phone fits in my pocket so much better.
For a while Niamh and Zoe took turns directing me as the model including draping me with the rainbow scarf and putting that bow in my hair etc. I’m fine with this in general and hey, maybe they will remember that the model is supposed to listen next time I want a family picture of them. I did my best to not say anything about composition or focus but they did have a wonderful time looking through the view finder and framing their shots. For the record, I am a mean mom and made them use the clicker even if they were looking through the view finder. The fewer times they touch the expensive camera the better. I did bend the ‘no touching’ rule a little when I showed them how to manually zoom in and out. To their credit, they did a decent job and out of about 40 pictures there were 4 or 5 good ones and that is a common ratio for even a good photographer.
This one of Niamh she took completely alone. Zoe got bored, Fiona needed a diaper, I’m the one who diapers so we left Niamh playing with the camera and this is one of the last shots on the card. Recently Niamh has gotten camera shy ( I think just to be contrary) so she isn’t in as many pictures as she used to be. I know I am biased but I think she is incredibly photogenic. (all the kids are but again, I’m biased)
I need to remember to get the real camera out more often, I know it isn’t all about the tools, but they sure do help. I either neglected to take any pictures in January, or, I lost the card but I don’t seem to have anything from the entire month from the good camera. I can not let that happen again!
PS. Here is my view of the photo shoot taken with my little friend
pps. Zoe declared that day a PJ day, every so often I let her win
