The week thus far

Yesterday was a big day for Niamh, it was her introduction to Kindergarten!  We choose the STEM school because it really does have an integration of science and technology in everyday learning and we think that is important   Most of the other schools don’t have a firm science curriculum for elementary school and I think I benefited from my education that included science at all levels.  Of course, it isn’t the easy choice because the bus for that school does not come to our area so I’m in the middle of trying to get them to include us and if not we have to go to plan B or C.  Plan D is driving her there…  Part of me would love to keep her safe and sound in my own car but practically speaking it would mean hauling her 2 sisters for a 35min round trip every day 2x a day (not to mention hauling myself) and I just don’t think that is a viable first choice.  If it comes to it, we will do it, but I’m hoping the bus people see the light.

The oddity of yesterday was that Niamh should have been in daycare but she was home with me so we could do the visit so it was a rare day without Zoe.  Today the opposite is true since Niamh is at school and Zoe is home with me.  Each of them individually are totally different then them together.  I am not sure what way I like it better but when I think harder on it I miss whoever isn’t there so I think I prefer to have the whole lot of them together.

The visit itself was a non event.  We actually did a tour a few weeks ago but for Niamh seeing it again was a good thing.  We took a bus ride, practiced getting lunch on the cafeteria line and I had to sit on my hands as she struggled to open her milk, something she has never had to do but come september they have a daily milk break in the afternoon.  She was shy and didn’t want to talk to the teachers but between a few more months of maturity and getting to know them I’m sure she will come around.  It is hard not to already be sad that she will be gone daily next year, my days of doing what I want with them every day are numbered.  On the other hand, the count down to 3 kids in school has begun.  Fiona may or may not do daycare, certainly not before she is 16 months, but who knows at that point.  Logically when Fiona is 16 months that will be next October and I don’t know if I’ll start her anywhere until after christmas but who knows how I’ll feel then, that is a long time from now.

In other news, I’ve put a tiny toe into the world of work again -

- I got my first month of Melaluca in hand and I do like the products so I’m ready to reccomend them; if I get 8 people who want to try it out that counts as a business for the IRS and my goal for the year was to have a valid business.  If anyone wants to know more about some great all natural lotions and cleaning stuff (among other things) let me know and I’ll get the info going.

- I started writing for peanuts on Textbroker.com – I get about $2.50 for 250 words so that is more then nothing but not exactly the big time.  I obviously enjoy writing and I also enjoy the random topics I get to research and write on so it is like brain candy that might even pay for a late someday.

- I started a Doll Doctering website and we will see if anyone ever wants me to fix a doll for them

For the record, this drive to earn something is all me, Lars is totally ok with me eating bon bons in my copious spare time.  I like exercising my brain with the writing and sharing the good stuff on Melaluca and some extra money would never go astray.

Ok, Zoe should be up from her nap soon and I want to make a dent in the chaos so this afternoon I can do fun stuff, maybe even sew – I’m so crazy with my free time!  This is what happened last time I tried to sew.

Cute but messy…

Soon you will understand what we meant by “Critical mass”, any two girls together was a whole different dynamic than all three together!!
